BoxyTunes - audio, music, and podcast player for Dropbox App Reviews

I have tested something like 10 apps, what I want is to download music files from dropbox, and be able to listen offline and rearrange playlist as I want. This is the handiest Ive tested!

This app simply downloads the selected files from your DropBox and adds them to a single playlist. Sorry, but thats not exactly rocket science, its not music in the cloud, more like "music downloaded from your cloud". GOOD: - slick interface, feels good - plays music in background! - fast browsing through my Dropbox - instant rewind BAD: - no streaming - no sorting of playlist - no multiple playlists Real streaming with Songbox, but super crappy parsing of your Dropbox with no control over what files stay in your playlist… Until now: now Dropbox-based music streaming with your iPhone :/

no streaming display turns off while playing music cant sort tracks in playlist no multible playlists design of the UI can be better hoping for updates...

Good app but please implement proper shuffle. This is not shuffle what you implemented. Yes, its random but sometimes the same song just repeats. Take a look at how shuffle is made in iTunes or on an iPod.

Its fine for some Tracks but the two Things mentioned above would make it way more good!

Pros -Play podcasts and music without syncing. Cons -Needs better UI -Needs streaming ability -Needs search ability -Needs alphabetical scrolling

Ill stick with Songbox for now.

Love it! Havent tried other similar apps but this does exactly what I want it to: play my dropbox music in the background.

very convenient to listen to mp3s on the dropbox. Please add "30 sec skip"button. its more convenient to recorded radios.

It seems the app shows the MP3tag after downloading the files, and if they are in multibyte characters, they turn into garbage strings. I hope it will be fixed soon, when other functions work perfectly, so far. I can give you the code that can handle them, if you want.

Ive been looking for an app to allow me to access music on my dropbox and has background ability. At .99 this is a steal! No more iTunes synching for me!

Nice to have access to all my music. Easy to use and works great. Requested features for future updates: ability to use my existing iTunes playlists; ability to add a whole album or artist to a playlist without having to select each song individually

Ive used orb and many other streaming apps but you have to always leave your computer on ugh. This allows you to access the same features except you are useing your dropbox and can store it for later useage.

Ive drunk the Dropbox koolaid, and its good to see more apps aimed at the Dropbox-koolaid-drinking market. Kudos! Feature request: Id rather not be forced to add things to a playlist. If I get an odd hankering one evening to listen to, say, the Croatian National Anthem as sung by The Beatles, and queue up all 50 episodes of Mating Sounds Of The North American Fruitbat afterwards, I dont want to be forced to then go and delete them all from the playlist afterwards. I would like to be able to browse my Dropbox and go "there! I want to listen to THAT!"... only with local caching (think "airplane mode"). Still -- thanks for a great app that does exactly what it says it does!

This is a nice app for listening to music stored in Dropbox. I had asked the developer to add native support for the iPad to take advantage of the bigger screen, and he did so in the latest update. Thx! Now just add support for multiple playlists and streaming and it will be perfect.

Compared to other options, this is a very basic player..hoping the next update will the purchase useful.

Great app. Its just what I was looking for, and at a low cost. Works just fine for selecting songs from DropBox and creating playlists for my iPad.
